A contractor working for the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be completing a PennDOT road reconstruction project for SR304 in Union County (Mifflinburg Borough) beginning on May 8th, 2023. The work involves new water mains and storm sewer upgrades along with sidewalk and paving upgrades. SR 304 from SR45 (Chestnut Street) to SR3004 (Red Ridge Road) will be down to one lane of traffic allowing vehicular traffic to only leave Mifflinburg. Any traffic entering into Mifflinburg on SR304 will be detoured onto SR3004 (Red Ridge Road) and over to SR104 to proceed into the Borough. This will begin May 8th and will be in effect until October 1st. There will also be a few days of closure of SR2004 (Furnace Road/Maple St) between SR304 and East Street during the project to do some additional storm sewer work. Therefore, on street parking in this area will not be permissible during this work. In addition, there may be some complete closure work at night of SR304 to safely complete utility crossing work during the night. There will be signs throughout the project area for traffic patterns and detours to direct traffic flow on the side streets that are within this work area. If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the local PennDOT Office.
