Mifflinburg Borough residents have received a Notice of Violation regarding a problem at the Water Treatment Plant. The Borough’s automated Chlorine Monitoring equipment did not record chlorine levels in the 15 minute intervals as required by the Borough’s permit.
During this time the water was being treated with chlorine as usual. The Borough also performed daily manual tests during this time and levels were within the normal limits. The Borough reported the problem to PA DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) as soon as they became aware that the chlorine was not being monitored every 15 minutes. Anytime that the Borough has a PA DEP violation we are required to notify residents.
